Sage Line 50 - Automated import of invoice
'58 ALL' have developed a PDA Sales Ordering System for Jays Foods over the past years. The system is efficient to run using web technology and run-of-the-mill PDAs.
Duplication of effort was occuring when the Sales Orders and Credit Notes where being retyped into their accounting system Sage Line 50. So, a third party piece of software was purchased that will post data into Sage through a back door!
This third party software has a GUI interface and expects a simple CSV file. So, '58 ALL' rewrote Jays Foods toolkit to allow for the creation and management of the order posting into Sage. This will save then approx 20 man hours per week in order processing.

New Actinic shop for Sabre Systems
Actinic Shopping cart software was the preferred choice of shopping cart solutions for Sabre Systems. We compared a number of products including writing a new tailor-made system. But for functionality, especially order management, we felt that Actinic gave good value for money.
Sabre Systems have a legacy Microsoft SQL Server stock control system which is robust and has been customised for their business needs. '58 ALL' were commissioned to interface this legacy stock system with the Actinic shopping cart software.
An SQL Server script was written to extract data from their live database scheduled to run throughout the day. A Perl script was then developed to parse this data and to create an Actinic Products import file. This file also had to have reference to logo image files, photos, PDF files etc etc and is much more then a simple spreadsheet!

Donald Pass - Panoramic painting
Donald Pass is an artist whose work has been inspired by an epiphany he experienced in 1969. Fantastic dramatic "resurrection" images which have effected people in different ways over the years.
The ultimate experience to appreciate this art is to be immersed in it, and that is what we intend to do with the work. Taking the paintings from a 2D perspective, cutting them up, reshaping them and animating them in the virtual darkroom to make an immersive full dome short animation film.
The first step was to prove this could be done. We took one painting and rebuilt it into a Hemispherical image. You can view a <a class=maincopy href='http://www.greenwich-news.net/pass' target=_blank'>Quicktime version of this image.
Another painting has been made into a full 360° Quicktime cylinderical immersive which you can <a class=maincopy href='http://www.greenwich-news.net/pass/pass.htm' target=_blank'>view here.
The aim of this experimental project is to create a short film which can be viewed in a planetarium. Immersing the viewer into the mind of the artist, taking art and creativity to a new dimension.
